"Born in New York and long based in Asheville, North Carolina, singer Eve Haslam is the leader of the Satin Steel Jazz Ensemble. Her debut album, 'Beginning to Sing Like Me,' is scheduled to be released later in 2012 and is dedicated to her father Herb Haslam, a composer with whom she sang as a child.
"Several of Eve Haslam’s performances are available on her demo and they are quite impressive. During Antonio Carlos Jobim’s 'How Insensitive,' she displays an attractive, haunting and very expressive voice. Her interpretation of the lyrics brings out both the beauty and sadness of the Jobim classic. In contrast, Henry Mancini’s 'The Days Of Wine And Roses' is taken at a cooking tempo, with Eve swinging hard while making tasteful use of her wide range and powerful delivery. 'The Look Of Love' is given new life and feeling by it being performed at a slightly faster speed than usual.
"Composed by Herb Haslam, 'A Thousand Years Ago,' 'Shadows Fall,' and 'Leaves From The Book of Changes' Eve Haslam shows her intimate versatility with sultry horn duets telling the stories characterized by each song; she truly owns every tune!
"Eve Haslam’s music makes one look forward to her CD 'Beginning to Sing Like Me.'"

"I can say plenty about Eve Haslam, but what is most important to know is that she's a tempting mix of minx, siren and forsaken soul. From Cabaret to Jazz, magnanimous as well as demure and coy. She's joyful and forlorn."
"Your lead vocals really grabbed us! Tuneful, interesting and well articulated. Spot on."

"Satin Steel Jazz Ensemble is sensual on smooth and sexy on strong. It’s refreshing to hear accomplished jazz musicians having fun again. This group is rock solid behind a passionate lead vocal. Satin Steel is tight, capturing an energy and rawness usually reserved for live performances. I can’t wait to hear more."

"In particular Eve has delivered in HOW INSENSITIVE the perfect coloring with her distinctive vocal styling and great instrumental accompaniment. The mutual wounds of lost love illuminated in music and song. Fire and ice, hearts broken, the wrenching memory of last looks. A breakup story simply and artfully told. Bluesy jazz for a cold, rainy day in November, with summer love a wistful throbbing memory and the promises of spring far enough in the future to give little immediate comfort. Sometimes a singer captures a mood in perfect holographic suspension... this is one of those moments."
